MEET & GREET 2019/2020

Hæhæ to you, new graduate student or elder PhD,

 

We have just started a new year at the University of Iceland, and some of us just graduated, few just joined the University or the country, and others have been here now for many years..

This is the best moment for us to meet and greet surrounded by beers and pizzas and maybe for the bravest ones, to tear (lovely) each other apart with a BeerPong game !

We then welcome you to come and join us on the 4th of October in the building called Raunó (the exact name is Raunvísindastofun, see map below), 2nd floor.

We are really looking forward to celebrate this new year together and have fun !!

Helix and Komplex

The Merge of the Century!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Komplex is taking a hiatus. Which is why, in the crossover of the century, Helix is welcoming the former members of Komplex into our organization!

We are happy to open our arms and welcome the former members of Komplex into our group.

Both Helix and Komplex are filled with students doing research in science, albeit life sciences and physical sciences. We both experience the frustration of an experiment not going according to plan and the joy that comes from good results! Come to think about it, we’re more similar than we are different.

So, members of Komplex, welcome to Helix!

Meet & Greet Coming Up!

On Friday, the 21st of September, members of Helix and Komplex are going to meet at 17:00 on the 5th floor of Læknagarður. This event is a good chance to socialize with fellow scientists and meet people from both biomedical sciences and chemistry.

Science trip to Medor !

MEDOR is a leading medical device and laboratory products distributor in Iceland. There are busses that go straight to Hafnarfjorður (nr.1 in direction to Hafnarfjordur, Vellir, stop at Hjallabraut. The bus go from BSI at 16:09 or 16:19 and arrives at Hjallabraut at 16:39 or 16:49. Medor is just across the street.

1 Sept – Tournament for new fresh and old students and after that, Meet & Greet with Komplex !

1st of September there will be held a freshman tournament. Team up for your student union, find good name for your team and beat the other teams! After beating all the other teams come and join us at Læknagarður at 18:00 – ground floor, where you can grab a fresh drink and good pizza ! Meet & Greet – Septemberfest Komplex will join us ! Vúhú =)

You can compete in football as well as in dodgeball! Minimum 2 freshman/woman in team but maximum 15 people in each team. You can sign up until 29th of August.

It will be held in front of the main building. Start at 12:30. Each game can take from 10-15 min.
